Born Michael Balzary, he is the bassist of the Hot Chili Peppers and widely considered to be one of the greatest rock bassists of all-time.
He met Kiedis, the future Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman, at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles. He first played jazz trumpet but was taught the bass by Slovak, who would become the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ first guitarist.
He has played small roles in such films as to the Future Part II, Driver, and Big Lebowski.
He married Loesha Zeviar in June 1988 and then later got remarried to actress Rayder in 2005. He and Frankie had their first child together, Sunny Bebop Balzary, in 2005.
In 2009, he and Radiohead frontman Yorke formed the supergroup Atoms for Peace. They released their first album, Amok, in 2013.
