Franz Schubert was only 31 when he died, yet had composed over 600 works, a fraction of which were published within his lifetime. The son of a school teacher he lived most of his life in obscurity in Vienna. It was only after his death in 1828 from typhoid fever and probably syphilis that the extent of his composition was discovered, published and performed.
